Keep in mind that in order to use virtual backgrounds, you will need to use a green screen (a solid green sheet hung up) if your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements or if you cannot update your Zoom app to version 4.6.0 or higher.

To download the photographs:

  1. Select the image you wish to use from the link above. 
  2. Right-Click and select Open Image in New Tab
  3. Right-click or Control-click the image on the new page, then click Save Image As...
  4. Save the image to your computer (we recommend saving to the new Zoom folder to keep all of your new backgrounds in one place).

To alter your background prior to the start of your meeting: (Once you've downloaded your virtual background image)


  1. In the taskbar's upper left corner, click zoom.us.
  2. Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
  3. From the Configuration menu, select Virtual Background
  4. Click the plus sign (plus) to view the images saved to the new Zoom folder (or any other folder in which you saved your new backgrounds).
  5. Choose from the uploaded virtual background images

To alter the background of your meeting:

  1. Click the arrow next to Video (your screen may say Stop Video) on the video screen.
  2. Click Select Virtual Background from the pulldown menu
  3. If you already have images in your Zoom app, you can simply select the desired background by clicking on it.
  4. Follow steps four and five above if you haven't already uploaded your images.

Depending on the version of Windows you have, you must determine whether your processor is compatible. If you're using Windows 7 or 8, you'll need an i7 quad core processor of at least the fourth generation. If you are using Windows 10, your processor must be an i5 dual-core processor of the sixth generation or later.

  3. On the new page, right-click the image, then select "Save Image As" Save image as... (or Save image as... if Windows 10 is installed)
